fnb ventura meeting next Sunday, April 16th at 12oclock at The Underground Coffeeshop in Ventura

if you know anyone who might want to come, please let them know! and let me know if you need directions or a carpool, and if you are coming.

[24 Mar 2005|03:03pm]

) Food Not Bombs Ventura still needs volunteers to help us with passing out flyers, carpooling, getting donations, picking up donations, cooking food, and serving food to the homeless of Ventura. There we will be promoting human rights, animal rights (the food is always vegetarian and vegan most of the time), and peace. email fnbventura@gmail.com if you're interested. Thanks!

2) As many of you know, Wet Seal uses bunnies for fur instead of faux fur. Although I have sent a letter and many people have as well, I thought it would be more effective to send them a box full of receipts from faux fur bought elsewhere. (I specifically went to Abercrombie & Fitch instead of buying from Wet Seal.) If you want to send yours on your own for whatever reason, here is the address:(Joel N. Waller, CEO
Wet Seal, Inc. 26972 Burbank Foothill Ranch, CA 92610) If you'd rather have me send yours together with mine and the others that I collect, email me at fnbventura@gmail.com. Also, if you can't find your receipt, or don't want to bother, you can take a picture of yourself wearing it or a picture of the tag that says where it is from/ that it is fake fur, and I'll send that with the receipts!

3) I had an idea for Easter activism, and thought I would share it with others so that more people could do it. I don't know if it's a completely original idea, but it doesn't matter. Here's what to do: If your city is holding an Easter Egg hunt, plant plastic eggs with cruelty free stickers or other animal-friendly materials that are appealing to children inside. When the children go to find their eggs, they will find yours, and hopefully think about animals in a new way. For example, if someone got something that said simply and nicely where eggs really come from, how many children would want to have REAL eggs for easter ever again? Another helpful thing to do would be to hold a booth outside with information in case children or people are confused or just want to know more. That way you can personally explain the truth about meat, eggs, and dairy. Plastic Easter Eggs are on sale at Michael's (a craft store chain in the US) 52 for 6 dollars, or you might be able to find cheap ones at a 99 cents store or grocery store. Also, PETA.org can provide stickers and coloring books and other information made specifically for children, as well as information for adults. If you don't have enough time to order them, try printing them out at home or at the library. You can buy sticker paper at craft stores, or simply print onto regular paper. Happy hunting! (And sabatoging :) )

4) I love 8th Continent's chocolate soymilk, but apparently none of their soymilks are vegan. Please, please email them and urge them to switch from D3 to D2 in order to stop animal cruelty. Even if you don't like it, or like some other soymilk more, there are a lot of people who aren't vegan but still drink it. By getting this company to remove the ONE non-vegan ingredient, the non-vegans will be supporting anti-cruelty with their money. If the company is going to make and sell its product regardless of whether the vegans buy it or not, why not make it vegan so it doesn't hurt animals? Think of all the animals/animal by products that will be saved in the process! Not only that, but it would help those of us who love it ;) 8thContinent@genmills.com

x-posted a lot, sorry for the inconvience to some of you

Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer collection that strives to end hunger, support the humane treatment of animals and promote peace. The Ventura, California chapter will be serving food to the homeless weekly. The food served will primarily be vegetarian and sometimes vegan, depending on the donated food supplies. To be involved with Food Not Bombs you do not have to be either a vegetarian or vegan, everyone is welcome to help us feed the homeless.

Food Not Bombs has a universal website at www.FoodNotBombs.net; however, each Food Not Bombs chapter is autonomous and is not controlled by any governing body. Because we are independent, all decisions about what to serve, what to promote, and what to do are completely up to us.

We will be scheduling an introductory meeting in which everyone interested is invited to come and see how they can help. At this meeting, you will be able to give any suggestions you have about the organization; what to include, what not to include, etc. We want your suggestions and strongly encourage you to come to this meeting. In order to get this organization off the ground, we need your support.

We will also need volunteers to:
1) Advertise and/or distribute Food Not Bombs flyers to promote public awareness
2) Pick up donated food and supplies from grocery stores, health food stores, farmers markets, and anywhere else that has agreed to donate
3) Use any personal contacts to help us get supplies donated to us, such as utensils, bowls, napkins, as well as food
4) Help cook large quantities of food, probably in stews and soups 5) Help serve the food
6) Find new volunteers

If you are interested in attending the meeting, or know anyone who might be, please contact Courtney at fnbventura@gmail.com with your availability. Also, if you have any questions or want to learn more, feel free to email us or visit www.FoodNotBombs.net.

If you have said you were interested, or are interested please join: http://groups.myspace.com/FoodNotBombsVentura

New Neon Pop-Poop Layout!! [10 Jun 2004|07:29pm]
[ mood | excited ]

So today me and kel and dave went to magnolias.

I got some cool new black jeans that fit me nicely.
This dark green Peabody's Track meat shirt with a bunch of random little kid signatures on the back.
And some medium high black socks.

Later on the day I was looking at the back of my Peabodys shirt and there was this number on the back so I decided to call him up and ask him if he was going to do the english homework and if he liked his teacher.

weekend should be filled with adventures, pooping, and of course; skate and destroy. (speaking of which, any of you lurks have my board at your house?!)

[08 Jun 2004|09:43pm]

ok ok ok...this one time i got these black bubble gum pants and they were really good up until now...they have a hole in the butt and the back pocket and then both of the front legs are like peeling of but they were really sweet pants for like 8 months or something.
